In mid-June, Atkins was invited to attend a roundtable discussion on 'Delivering the London 2012 Olympic Games' in Vietnam's capital, Hanoi. The event was organised by the UKTI with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) and in association with the Vietnam Sports Administration and the Vietnam Olympic Committee. The purpose of the event was to share knowledge gained on the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games with the organisers for the 18th Asian Games (ASIAD) to be held in Hanoi in 2019.
The event was presided over by the MOCST Vice-Minister, Mr. Le Khanh Hai, the UK Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Lord Green; and the British Ambassador to Vietnam, Dr. Antony Stokes. Atkins was invited to share their experience in transport planning for the London Games and Mr. Cameron MacDonald of the Asia Pacific Transport Planning Team presented an interesting account of the complex modelling and assessment work undertaken.
